If your dog likes a mix of textures or tends to get bored with plain kibble, this formula usually goes over really well.🍗 What’s Good About It• Real chicken as the first ingredientYou’re getting solid protein upfront, not fillers pretending to be meat.• Dogs love the textureThe combination of crunchy kibble and soft shredded pieces is a big win. Most dogs pick out the meaty shreds first because they’re basically little treats mixed into the food.• Digestive-friendlyIt includes added probiotics, which can help with digestion and stool consistency.• Good everyday nutritionThe formula has a nice balance of protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, and omega-6 fatty acids for skin and coat health. It’s not “boutique,” but it’s reliable and well-rounded.• No artificial colors or flavorsA nice bonus for a mid-priced dog food.⚠️ Things to Keep in Mind• Can cause tummy issues for some dogsLike any food, some dogs don’t tolerate it well — a few owners report softer stools or diarrhea during the switch.• Shredded pieces can be messyThere can be crumbs left behind, especially in the bottom of the bag.• Contains grainsIt’s not grain-free, so it won’t work for dogs with grain sensitivities.✔️ Final VerdictPurina Pro Plan Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice is a great option if you want something tasty, balanced, and not overly expensive. Most dogs love the mixed texture, and the added probiotics are a plus. It’s not the cleanest or most premium formula out there, but for the price and palatability, it’s one of the more dependable choices in its category. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My Golden loves it! *by on Reviewed in the United States August 8, 2026* My vet said he uses this, so I tried it. My dog loves it. I tried the frozen delivery fresh food, but it was expensive and a hassle. I also tried Hills Science Diet, but they changed the formula, and my Golden developed an allergy. My Golden likes the Purina Pro Plan, and she has done well with digestion. I fell in the trap of “Fresh is better” and felt guilty buying dried food, but I finally came to my senses. 🤣 I would have taken a picture, but she gobbles it up before I get my camera ready! ## Frequently Bought Together - Purina Pro Plan Complete Essentials Shredded Blend Chicken and Rice Dog Food Dry Formula with Probiotics for Dogs - 5 lb. - Purina Pro Plan Complete Essentials Shredded Blend Beef and Rice Dog Food Dry Formula with Probiotics for Dogs - 5 lb.
