They don't cycle. You choose or customize a color for the "display", and another color for the "key" color (surround and button color), for a pleasing color combo. Or make it all one color if you want. Once they're set, they stay that way, unless you change them, or disconnect the radio from power. Then you have to re-set the colors again.
