I think the beetles needed would get stuck and the meal worms would not be able to climb the trays. This product is for composting household food waste. The tiger worms speed up the process by eating the food waste. **Q: Can you keep this wormer outside. Will worms be ok in the rain** A: Yes, this can be used inside or outside but most people tend to keep them outside. The lid will stop any rain getting into the trays and the legs stop any unwanted pests getting at the food waste. I didn't force it, it's actually a really, really dumb design.The shank of the tap has a collar that when fitted into the sump container and tightened with a nut shears off! Absolutely ridiculous, I couldn't believe it. I'm not strong in the slightest and have mobility issues so it should not shear off.I emailed the company and they said they would contact their distribution centre to discuss a replacement tap . I've heard absolutely nothing since as I believe it's in China I'm guessing that's code for no.I bodged a fix and set my worms up.SIX weeks later I do have happy worms but it's been a massive chore. Four of my worms actually drowned in the depression where the tap fits within my first week of using it.I'm not convinced this was worth the money I paid simply due to the tap breaking so easily and the fact the worms drowned in the sump when it's designed to prevent that.It looks nice, it's easy for me to get into.
