The first warning was that when I put the new cartridge into the device the top wouldn't screw on properly. When I exerted more pressure in screwing it on, the aerosol just started spraying out of the top of the cartridge and out on to my hand. I tried a second one hoping that first one was a fluke, but no the same problem. BUT, Amazon is WONDERFUL with returns if something is defective.
