Bulb fell out, plastic snapped and springs pinged - if you value your Sunday afternoon, then this is not a "5 minute job" - it will turn into an hour plus of irritation - we have taken our old white bell, that is more than 30 years old and just painted it black - should have done that in the first place and saved the planet rather than buying this cheap plastic rubbish ### ⭐ Design disaster - don't waste your money *by P***Z on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 29, 2015* Like many others,. I was looking for a replacement of existing item apparently of same design. This has to be the worst designed bit of equipment that I have come across and its only saving grace was the fact that I haven't wasted too much money. It's supposed to be surface mounting but it isn't - you have to drill a large (at least 15mm) hole to accommodate the central bell pus mechanism otherwise any pressure from the coiled wires will push the front off. You get two 25mm long screws, which is a massive overkill because all they do is to hold a thin plastic plate to the door frame. This plate is supposed to hold the front white unit containing the bell push mechanism but the only connection between the two is a tiny plastic lug. There appears to be nothing holding the round light and bell push into this white plastic bit. I have now had to go elsewhere looking for something that will actually do what is, in the end, a very simple job but a job that is clearly beyond the designers of this bit of kit. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Cheap & nasty but does its job *by R***W on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 15, 2021* For £3.99 I shouldn't really complain, but you do get what you pay for and this is rather cheaply put together and badly designed. What should have been a 5 minute job on a Sunday afternoon turned into a 45 minute frustrating experience. The screws are of cheap metal that chewed up despite using an appropriate cross-head screwdriver. Attaching the wires was extremely fiddly. And when finally assembling the unit and getting the cover to stay on was again a frustration. After everything was in place it did at least work, but I would not recommend.
