This extra information builds a deeper understanding of the word and thus makes it more likely that the student will remember the word in the future, which is the ultimate goal.The other thing about this book that makes it one I like to use while tutoring is that at the end of each word set, which are 12 words long, there is a practice section. This allows for some interaction with the book, allowing it to go from theoretical to practical skills. These practices include matching words to synonyms and filling in the blanks in sentences to test definitions and being able to use the word using context.This book has 510 words which means that it holds a great deal of information that can really help students. I find this book to be great for use in tutoring students and to give to students to do on their own. With a thorough presentation that includes 43 review sets of words that help disseminate how the word is used, this is a very helpful book, and will certainly assist those taking a vocabulary test. Within each review set is a series of words, and with each word, there is enough information to help remember the meaning. The respective words are used in sentences, a synonym is provided, along with a antonym. In addition, the Latin origin of the word is provided. At the end of each review set is a review exercise as well which tests the reader on their knowledge. An answer key is provided in the back of the book, as well as a list of all the words contained in the book.
