It is possible they are imported, BUT the tool is well made and works well. **Q: Can the blade be replaced?** A: I do not think the blade can be replaced through Amazon and I could not locate the company. BUT for a tool of such low cost, it would be just as well to buy a new one when the blade wears out or gets dull. It could be sharpened with the right size stone. **Q: I just want to cut plastic...and I don't have much hand strength....are the handle grips hard to squeeze together?** A: These shears will cut soft products easily. But, they are designed to cut certain angles that snap into use by rotating the built-in fence. And, BE CAREFUL! The blade is VERY SHARP and injury can occur to your non-squeezing hand if you slip off the product you are cutting. I speak from experience. I think it is best to use the shears only for their design use: cutting quarter round. **Q: How Long is the blade? I'm looking to diagonally cut grip tape strips, so I'm hoping for about a 3" blade...** A: Manufactures specifications say you can cut 1/2" thick and 1" wide.
