It is somewhat pliable. I find these crutches to be of great quality. **Q: Ufeelgood is the manufacturer. does anyone have experience with their other products? they only list 4 and 5 star reviews, including for this product** A: I had on older pair of these from many years ago. They were on the heavier side but I could easily use them and carry them. I don’t want to give the impression that they were too heavy to use. This new pair from Ufeelgood are much lighter in weight and I feel like I’m going to fall when I use them. I don’t know if the heavier ones make a difference if you’ve never used them. For me, these are too light and feel uncomfortable. I awaits feel like I’m going to fall so I don’t use them. I’m donating them to a place to be sold. I find them scary to use. **Q: What are the cuffs made out of? Is it all plastic or metal covered with plastic ? I'm very active and I need something that will hold up.** A: So they arm bands are a harder plastic but have held up fine. He finds them very comfortable and durable. He has found his life to be better with using them! He will only use one sometimes in the house and the extra weight of his body has done nothing to these.
