## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great price and nothing lacking
*by J***R on August 5, 2018*

This is my first spool of PETG filament and it hasn't disappointed. I've finished 2 prints with temps at 238 at the nozzle and 65 on the heated bed. I picked this spool up to print random things for my daughter and she's in love with the pink color. I will be replacing my current stock with more of the AmazonBasics PETG as it runs out. Bottom line, This filament does not disappoint.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great PETG Filament, With All the Normal Pros and Cons
*by N***T on July 2, 2018*

I have read that PETG is a wonder material with the strength of ABS and the ease of use of PLA. I find this to be an exaggeration, with PETG being a good material to have for its unique qualities, but not a replacement for other materials.First, I want to specify that AmazonBasics is a surprisingly good brand for filament, and that includes PETG. It comes vacuum sealed with a desiccant pack and shows no signs of moisture damage, with silky prints. The spools are high quality, marked well, and wound properly. I have yet to have any issues.PETG is somewhere between ABS and PLA in terms of heat resistance, with the ability to stand up to a lot of environmental abuse and some flexibility. It is considered more food safe as well, although anything coming out of a 3D printer nozzle is suspect. It needs to be dry, and perhaps periodically dried if it is stored for a long time. It has a shiny look when printed and is watertight if printed and modeled just right, which is easier said than done. The big benefit for me over ABS is that it does not warp at all when printing, similar to PLA. However, ABS prints look more like finished products and are stronger when they do come out correctly. With most filaments, adhesion to the build plate is an issue. The opposite is true with PETG, which wants to melt into anything it comes in contact with. BuildTak is out, which I learned the hard way. I had to heat the bed super hot to melt the PETG to get my print off, ruining the bottom of my print and leaving blobs stuck in the BuildTak in the process. I have found the easiest solution to be blue painter's tape and using a raft. I can just toss the tape with the raft after the print if needed.Otherwise, getting the nozzle temperature right is a finicky process, with higher temps giving more layer adhesion but really bad stringing and lower temps giving more precision, but possibly some little gaps forming on large prints. I am currently using 245 degrees, which is the same as with eSun PETG. I will probably try both a slower speed and temperature to get more precise prints when needed. In my experience, PLA is still the choice for accuracy in models and prototypes, and it prints faster. I use PETG and ABS for practical items that will be used and abused.I am not in love with PETG in the same way some people are, but this is a great version and I am using it a lot for practical projects.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Prints well with no issues once you dial in the right settings
*by T***Y on June 27, 2018*

This 1.75mm PETG Filament for 3D Printing from AmazonBasics seems to print well with no issues as long as your print bed is hot enough. This is a 1KG (2.2 lb) roll and one nice touch is that there are openings on the side of the spool with markings that denote the approximate number of meters and grams of filament left on the roll. Nothing worse than running out of filament mid print. The recommended nozzle temp for this filament is 230C - 240C and a print bed temp of 80C. It printed fine at 230C on my printer. The particular printer I used will only achieve a bed temp of 60C so I had to print with a wide brim to keep it from warping on the base of the model. I'm sure that wouldn't be necessary with an appropriately hot print bed.The diameter seems to be pretty consistent. Between 1.74mm and 1.76mm every place I measured using calipers. This is important for print quality. This filament is completely opaque and the color is a soft, petal pink. I also got the grey, which is a medium grey color and the white, which is a brilliant, bright white and the black, which is a nice, deep black. Finally, I got the yellow which is more of a golden yellow color. I have previously only used semi-translucent PETG filament and I really like this opaque version.I like printing with PETG as it's stronger than PLA but has no harmful fumes like with ABS. It's not brittle when printed, like PLA. It has great layer adhesion, too, once you get the settings dialed in. Unlike PLA, you must have a heated bed. Also, you don't want the first layer squished down as much as with PLA so you'll need to play with your first layer height. Finally, it prints best when you turn the fan off for the first few layers and then turn the fan back on, in my experience. The pricing is very competitive and the multi-roll packs are an even better deal. I got the 3 pack of black, which we use a lot of for printing cosplay accessories, and it's less than $17 a spool! The 5 pack has colors you use most often and they break down to only $16/spool. Since this is good quality filament, it's quite the bargain.
