You simply slide the two side panels onto the sword holder and it's assembled. Mounting is accomplished with the included hardware. Looks great and is plenty sturdy for the purpose. My only complaint is that there is a bit of wood 'fuzz' from the cutting process. Nothing a small bit of sandpaper won't take care of, and for the price, I'm not holding that against the manufacturer. The hooks that hold the katana jut out on the back, and unless you have extra long nails, it'll lean. It is adjustable and can hold up to three items even though it’s designed for two. We actually used the area above the two holding spots and the one lower holding spot for our two sticks (see photos). This was the perfect find! It went perfect for our Asian themed room.
