I hate damp well steamed clothing.** A: Sorry it took so long to get back with you. Yes, it does have enough heat to dry the fabric. It produces a lot of steam too. Only when the water level is lower it does not want to steam as much. I am extremely tough on irons so you asking the right person. I have owned about 5 other irons in the past 5 years. Mostly Rowentas and a Shark. All of them leaked after a short time and the Shark just completely stopped working. I will never buy either again. I was also constantly cleaning the soleplates. This one is ceramic and just rub it on a towel every now and then or when something gets on it. The only major con for me with this iron is the feet. It is a bit unstable if you do not set it upright correctly and has toppled a few times. Let me know if you have more questions. FYI I use it almost every day for my custom clothing biz. **Q: I just received the iron but I suspect that it is not new. Does a new iron have a printed paper on the base like it is showing in the last picture ?** A: Yes it does **Q: Does "ceramic" mean it's not teflon (no ptfe)? lookin for something that does not emit toxic fumes that kill birds.** A: There is so teflon on the bottom of my iron.
