This device does not record to DVD. I have an older model Panasonic, DMR-ES30V, that records from VHS to DVD, if the VHS is not copy protected. Amazon.com has some resellers selling used ones, but they're $300, which is more expensive than when the device was new. And it's no longer available from the manufacturer. **Q: Does it come with a remote?** A: The one I purchased did not come with a remote as it was a used one, but I already had one identical to it from another purchase years earlier. It would not accept my VHS videos; it consistently spit them back out. So I exchanged it for another PV-D4742, and it would only accept one out of three videos. Spit the others right out, no apparent pattern to the rejects.
