What should I look for?** A: Yes find replacement screws. As stated the screws add extra securement. If you can't find screws then small SHORT nails will work as well and the nails will be more historically accurate (if that's a concern) I used nails in mine and I am quite pleased with the result. As also said. Heat the socket before inserting the shaft, it will form a tighter fit. Just don't heat it to much or you could effect the temper **Q: What's the overall length?** A: The shaft alone is 6ft, combined with a foot long blade is a whopping seven feet overall. **Q: Is this spear head a cold steel second** A: I wouldn't know. I've heard they do put seconds on the market. As far as I could tell, mine was not a second. Trouble is, I didn't buy my spearhead from Amazon... only the Kydex sheath that I needed to purchase separately. I have no idea whether the outfit I purchased the spearhead from markets seconds, or whether Amazon does. With this item it probably doesn't matter: it is a practical weapon for rough-and-ready use.
