That is why I got it. Just don't let it go all the way down. Pour it into your cup for sitting on the coffee warmer while it still has enough solvent to pour easily. That way the essential oil doesn't stick to the inside of the distiller too much. You will recover at least half of your solvent. **Q: Has anyone used this for making fuel? I know it’s not a big still, but for under $200 it give me something to experiment with.** A: Yes. Many people have used it for making fuel **Q: Can it be used for distilled water?** A: No it cannot, I tried haha. Alcohol vaporizes at around 170-190 degrees Fahrenheit, water will vaporize at the point of boiling which Is about 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Hope this helps! A copper pot water cooled still requires constant attention regulating the temp of the heat source and making shure you have plenty of cool water and/or ice. This one is pretty much automatic however the final product is not as good. You can run a batch through the machine several times and it gets better with ever pass but thats a lot of extra work. If you want a still that works, is easy for a beginner, and produces an OK product then this is a bit expensive but worth it.
