It is an omnidirectional microphone that captures audio from all the directions. And because of this, whatever sound falls on it is all recorded. Noise cancellation has been given inside it, due to this it separates the noise and only records the sound. But I felt that it could not separate the noise so well. I liked its audio quality that it captures and it has a little bass and depth which I liked very much. Its build quality is good and according to this price is quite good. I posted a full review video including recording samples on my YT channel "Android Member" you can check that out as well for better understanding. There are many things with this mic such as a carry pouch and TRRS to TRS converter. The price of this converter will be equal to the price of this mic in the market. So I do not understand how this company is able to give so much at this price. I think this is a very good deal. Pros 1. Packaging: Packaging and Box content at this price is surprisingly great. Carry Pouch and TRRS to TRS converter just got me thinking how even it is possible to pack so much at this price. 2. Price: As I said above it's price is very aggressive and I am not seeing anything better than this, I think it's a great deal. 3. Audio Quality: It captures really good audio and you hardly differentiate between this mic and a high end mic like Boya BY M1. Cons 1. Wire length is only 2 meters and that's enough for me but for some people it isn't. 2. Noise Cancellation is there but not that great, it's not bad but it's not great I would say it's average. ## Features - 4-pole jack is compatible for laptop which has only one audio male jack (input/output), iPhone android Smartphone, PlayStation 4, this mini microphone is specially designed for smartphone, tablet, laptop, PS4 or Skype, WhatsApp, FaceTime talking, YouTube recording, Podcasting, webinar - The pin is thin enough to directly plug into your mobile 3.5mm headset jack even wearing a phone protector, High-quality and omnidirectional function, easy to use, Reception : High-quality Voice Technology - It picks up sound equally from all around the microphone, allowing for versatility when mounting and ensuring a high degree of user-friendly operation - With the help of 78 inches long cord, it makes the podcasting at a distance with your mobile much easier and easy clip on your tie or shirt collar for sound recording because of sturdy metal clip - An Extra 3-pin Adapter for DSLR: If you are going to use this mic with DSLR, camera or other device with 3-pin jack, please use this adapter. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07JF9B592 | | Antenna Location | Video Conference, Voice Recording | | Audible Noise | 74 Decibels | | Best Sellers Rank | #205,158 in Musical Instruments ( See Top 100 in Musical Instruments ) #2,635 in Condenser Microphones | | Brand | MAONO | | Built-In Media | 1 microphone, 1 adaptor, 1 pouch, 1 manual, 1 warranty card | | Color | Black | | Compatible Devices | Laptop, Smartphone, Tablet | | Connectivity Technology | Auxiliary | | Connector Type | 3.5 mm Jack | | Customer Reviews | 3.8 out of 5 stars 31,505 Reviews | | Enclosure Material | Polymer | | Frequency Range | 20Hz - 20kHz | | Hardware Platform | Camera | | Impedance | 1000 Ohms | | Item Dimensions | 4.72 x 3.54 x 1.18 inches | | Item Type Name | Condenser | | Item Weight | 80 Grams | | Manufacturer | Maono Technology Inc., mail: service@maono.com | | Mfr Part Number | AU-400 | | Microphone Form Factor | Lavalier | | Model Number | AU-400 | | Number of Channels | 1 | | Polar Pattern | Omnidirectional | | Power Source | Corded Electric | | Recommended Uses For Product | Video Conference, Voice Recording | | Signal-to-Noise Ratio | 74 dB | | Special Feature | Clip | | UPC | 667016188605 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** MAONO - **Color:** Black - **Compatible Devices:** Laptop, Smartphone, Tablet - **Connectivity Technology:** Auxiliary - **Connector Type:** 3.5 mm Jack - **Included Components:** 1 microphone, 1 adaptor, 1 pouch, 1 manual, 1 warranty card - **Item Weight:** 80 Grams - **Polar Pattern:** Omnidirectional - **Recommended Uses For Product:** Video Conference, Voice Recording - **Special Feature:** Clip ## Images ![MAONO AU-400 Lavalier Auxiliary Omnidirectional Microphone (Black) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61qQrv9iAfL.jpg) ![MAONO AU-400 Lavalier Auxiliary Omnidirectional Microphone (Black) - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61yvdPfDF-L.jpg) ![MAONO AU-400 Lavalier Auxiliary Omnidirectional Microphone (Black) - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61o6pI1kTML.jpg) ![MAONO AU-400 Lavalier Auxiliary Omnidirectional Microphone (Black) - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61LXL922s5L.jpg) ![MAONO AU-400 Lavalier Auxiliary Omnidirectional Microphone (Black) - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71F5HKHN8qL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice *by D***A on March 15, 2025* Nice ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Quality Mic. with Aggressive Price *by A***R on October 27, 2019* Well I am writing this review not only because it's a great product, but I am reviewing it so that people know each and every aspect of it and decide whether to buy this or not. Never mind , as far as the product quality is good, outer appearances dont matter much to me. πŸ‘ The pack contains : 1.) A lavalier microphone with 6 meters of cable. 2.) 2 button batteries where 1 battery is extra. 3.) A 3.5 mm gold plated adapter for laptops & smartphones and a 6.5 mm adaptor for dslr cameras. 4.) A metal clip to fix the condensor. 5.) A wind muff . 6.) A user instruction manual. 7.) A small pouch to store the device. πŸ‘ The overall construction of the mic is very sturdy yet very light. The cable thickness is ok for its extended length of 6 meters which can cover any major distance for interviews as well. πŸ‘ The condensor mic is omni directional and records very crisp quality of audio and instruments upto a distance of 1 meters beyond which the intensity of sound decreases a bit. Sensitivity and background noise elimination is excellent making it a real value for money device. Even if you tap the mic, the disturbance recorded isnt irritating exactly. πŸ‘ Since it comes with dual 3.5 mm with 6.5 mm adaptor , it can be used with a wide range of devices ranging from smartphones, laptops & dslr cameras. πŸ‘ Comes with a 1 year warranty which is quite okay. πŸ”·οΈ FINAL VERDICT : ************************ All in all, after using this device for over a week, i must say that it has a durable construction and brilliant- sensitive yet noise free audio recording capability especially at this price point which is very rare. Definitely recommended.πŸ‘πŸ‘ ✌Hope the review helps to make a decision. ## Frequently Bought Together - MAONO AU-400 Lavalier Lapel Microphone, Small Omnidirectional Auxiliary Microphone (Black) - GoPro Media Mod for HERO11 Black, HERO10 Black, HERO9 Black, Removable Windscreen Vertical Mounting Buckle ,Thumb Screw - Gopro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter For (Hero8 Black/Hero7 Black/Hero6 Black/Hero5 Black) - Official Accessory --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/729081714-maono-au-400-lavalier-auxiliary-omnidirectional-microphone-black](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/729081714-maono-au-400-lavalier-auxiliary-omnidirectional-microphone-black) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-07*
