I'm a warm sleeper and don't really get cold at night. But I was a little cold even with a down jacket on and wool socks. But not cold enough to not be able to get to sleep. The bag says it good to 20 degrees but it's advertised as good down to 15 degrees F. I think I'd need to layer up a little more to handle 20F but I think it's doable. The bag could have a been a little bigger (more room), but again at 5' 8" 170 lbs it was doable. It kept me warm around 16 degree, and was still comfortable in the low 50's. At 5'4", it is a little roomy but overall a nice bag for the price. Packs nicely in the provided stuff sack.
