Review: Sleek, sexy and broken cross over board. Design flaw or rough handling? You be the judge... - My speaker arrived broken. Not in the sense that it was damaged on the outside of the carton. This is a design flaw that I am surprised to see in a high end speaker. The board inside that serves as the cross over is very heavy. It is filled with choke coils and they are on the ends. This board is mounted to the terminal block on the inside of the cabinet. it also is only secured on one end of a rectangle board. The other end with several ounces of weight is hanging off unsecured or supported. I am guessing that the box was dropped flat on the side, where the board was horizontal upon impact and the rapid deceleration broke the board cleanly in two. Also I must add the board has 3 holes drilled in it along the line it fractured. Probably would not have snapped if the holes were not there. Ok, Klipsch is great, but now I have to fix the speaker. Onecall offered me the option to return the units. Now of course that is the last 2 C109 they had, so it is go with out or work with these. I should also add to this pile of information that the price I paid for the pair of walnut C-109 speakers was about half of what a pair here costs. So I guess it was worth it. Hopefully the 5 year warranty will still be intact. Will update the review after the crossover is installed and the XPR-1's can warm them up. I can tell you that if SONUS FABER somehow had a love child with Bowers and Wilkinson upper line (like $10k), its name would be JAMO C109. These speakers have the magic of the SONUS on the top end, with the lower mids and upper bass of the B&Ws. I'm telling you that you will not find anything that is better that these under $6500 ( upper line electrostatics) and even then its controversial. The B&W aren't even really "better", but they are slightly different.
