The inner retractable mechanism is weak. Retracts inconsistently, sometimes smoothly, mostly jerky, slow, noisy, very weak. First one broke half way through first walk with an older, calm15# dog attached. It is rated up to at least a 20# dog, no way,especially if the dog pulls on the leash. Sent broken one back and received prompt replacement, but product made of low quality materials and sent that one back as well. The design is practical and useful with two important features incorporated into the overall design (on board water and handy refillable waste disposal bags). If it can be manufactured with more durable materials (especially the internal retracting mechanism) it should be a winner. I would like a heavy duty one for larger dogs (50-80#) as well. I have my fingers crossed it will go back to the drawing board for critical improvements. Water bottle, trash bags, all works great, however the retractable leash device does not work properly when you need it to. My puppy is only 10 pounds. If I have the leash locked in a length and he would like a little more room to wander, I release the leash so that he can do so, but if he is trying to pull at all, the trigger does not release and I have to click it over and over again until it does. Also, when the leash does retract, it sometimes gets twisted as it coils inside of the compartment. This locks it as well. It's very annoying.
