It puts out a good amount of light with a nice blue hue that looks very moonlight-esque. The power supply provided has a nice switch on the cord for ease of controlling. However, the product does not include a reflector and without a method of reflecting the light, the strength of the light feels a bit lackluster. I was able to solve this easily by folding a piece of aluminum foil over it to act as a reflector, but that is not an ideal solution. For $29.99 and what is essentially a plastic tube with some LEDs in it, I would expect to get a reflector which would likely add mere pennies to the manufacturing cost. For that reason, and that reason alone, I give this product a 3 star rating.In order for me to give this product a 5 star rating, it would need to be priced more along the lines of $10 rather than $30. Don't get me wrong, this light does serve its purpose and does look very nice, but it is most certainly a bit overpriced. But this is a nuanced piece of equipment and very few others create a product specifically designed to be a moonlight for aquariums. I suppose with the market cornered, they can get away with charging a bit more.That said, I do like the light (with my foil reflector), and I believe my fish love it as well. It looks very nice at night not only in the water but in my room as well, as the light bounces off of the water and onto my walls. Without a reflector, however, the light is glaringly bright sitting on top of your aquarium and a great deal of light is lost going in every direction but into the tank.I have kept the light ultimately as it is really about the only one our there, and I am happy with it. I recommend it if you absolutely feel like you need a moonlight and don't have a fixture with one already built in. If you are presently shopping for an overall lighting system, I would seek out one that has LEDs built in for night viewing rather than using this separate one. It is worth it for those of us who want the nice look of the moonlight and are willing to accept that we are being gouged a bit. Just know that for $30 you will be overpaying a bit, but you will also be getting something that wells rather well. Β UPDATE: After 2 years of nighttime use for 3 hours each night, one of the LED bulbs is beginning to flash while the other three have died, leaving just one bulb remaining. It is obviously considerably dimmer than when I first bought it. Still would buy again for how long it lasted, but it has gone up in price (I got it for $25 in 2012.)This is a great light for my aquarium. I have the Marineland 5 Gallon Hex, and this fills up the entire tank and then some. It's very cool to see the light play over the rippling water, much like you'd see in the bottom of a pool. I decided to mount the light under the hood with another light already in place. The included sticky pieces are very good. I ended up moving the light about 5 times and the stickies are working very well. I'm not sure what the screws are for.Very easy to install and I'm sure it could light up a much bigger tank quite easily. This is money well spent on a great LED moonlight. It is also very nice that once the light is in place, you can angle it just the way you want. I have my daytime light turn off at 5pm and this goes on till 10pm. Was very glad that it connects to an outlet so I could use a timer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great light for a nice price *by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2012* I'm really pleased with this little light!Small, easy to mount, and casts more light than I expected. Mounting brackets are plastic C-shaped clips that you can attach to a wall or your canopy using your choice of the included velcro/adhesive tape or two small wood screws. The light cylinder clips into the mounting brackets easily and is just snug enough that you can rotate the light to get the angle of illumination you desire. Cord is a generous length (I estimate about 8') and includes a handy on/off switch about midway to the plug. I plan on mounting the switch on the back side of my aquarium with some two way tape for easy access. The blue light really makes some of the brighter coral accents in my tank pop visually, almost boardering on blacklight without being over the top psychedelic.Makes a great nightlight in our great room without being too bright to disturb shy or nocturnal fish. I plan on just leaving the moonlight LEDs on all the time and putting my T5 flourescents on an 8 hour timer.
