They won't be able to be thrown into a bag without popping open. My Monday box isn't closing at all, though it's more functioning on the second unit I bought for a friend. I'm just putting the whole box in my purse, its a bit large, but I have a big purse so it's not that inconvenient for me.So, only buy this if you can keep all of the boxes in the case it comes in - the ability to split up your pills for each meal is at least worth the 5 bucks you'll spend. The compartments can also be hard to open, you need to pry it open on the right side and it helps if you have longer fingernails. This is the second box that we purchased for her (my husband lost one of the individual boxes).
