The handles are sturdy and well positioned to really help him. Smooth surfaces are easy to clean. I am a little concerned about the lock-in mechanism, operated by screwing a little clamp to fit in the toilet bowl. (The grey gizmo on the front turns the screw) It shakes a little and feels as if very heavy person who pulled or pushed the arm rests forward rather than down might dislodge it, but I am sure that the manufacturers have tested that.
