Product Description 8 different highly pigmented Model Air acrylic colors, each in 17ml plastic eye dropper bottles: Silver (71063), Steel (71065), Gold (71066), Bright Brass (71067), Copper (71068), Artic Blue (71071), Gun (71072) and Gunmetal Metallizer (71073). From the Manufacturer Acrylicos Vallejo The Vallejo Company was registered in New Jersey, U.S.A., in the year 1965. In these early years it specialized in the manufacture of colors for animated films (cartoons). The most sustained expansion of Vallejo started in the nineties, beginning with the introduction of new products directed at the Model painting and Hobby sector. The company became the first specialist in acrylic colors, with a long and varied experience in all aspects of this branch of manufacturing. Model Air Paint The formula contains a new acrylic resin with properties until now impossible to obtain in a waterbased acrylic. The resistance, hardness and covering power of Model Air is superior to any known acrylic for airbrushing. Model Air is presented in a 17 ml. bottle with eyedropper. This packaging prevents the paint from evaporating and drying in the container.

**Q: Is this the metallic set as the title/description suggest, or the basic colors like the image suggests? (also please fix this issue, unnecessary)**
A: The product that I ordered was non- metallic.  I ordered the basic colors as it displays in the picture.

As others have pointed out, the description on this page is misleading. I received the 71.174 set, which is the smaller of two sets that Vallejo calls "Basic Colors" Model Air: it contains three "primaries" (red, medium yellow, and blue), a convenience color (olive green), two shades (black and white), and two "metallics" (silver and gold). Only the gold and silver are "metallic" paints, which means they are thicker, opaque, and glossy. The other colors are "flat" rather than glossy. The colors mix well with two caveats: the blue is a staining pigment (maybe Phthalo??) and easily dominates mixtures; the black is a gritty pigment and in thin washes you might see clumps of pigment. The primary colors are relatively transparent, so it's very difficult to paint light over dark. When I applied these with synthetic paint brushes onto resin models the non-metallic colors required multiple coats. The paints are self-leveling, but a light sanding between coats is sometimes helpful. I like how the silver can be mixed with the non-metallic colors to produce a glossier, more opaque version of the latter.
