## Description

Fourteen episodes from the 1970s sitcom about the comedy exploits of a mixed-race adult education language class. In 'The First Lesson' teacher Jeremy Brown (Barry Evans) arrives for his first day at the Southbank College of Further Education eager to spread the joy of knowledge - then he meets his students. 'An Inspector Calls' has Jeremy mistake the school inspector for a student and then offend his wife into the bargain. 'A Fate Worse than Death' finds Ranjeet (Albert Moses) asking for help when he resolves to escape the clutches of his bride-to-be. 'All Through the Night' sees the class get locked in the classroom after hours and prepare for a long night together. In 'The Best Things in Life' Jamlla (Jamila Massey) gets detained by the police for shoplifting, but her classmates soon come to the rescue. 'Come Back All is Forgiven' has a number of different class members all buy teacher Jeremy the same present for his birthday. 'The Cheating Game' sees the students indulge in a little bit of underhand activity in order to save their class from getting cancelled. 'Better to Have Loved and Lost' finds Ali (Dino Shafeek) and Chung (Pik Sen Lim) planning to get married, even though Ali already has a wife! In 'Hello Sailor' Jeremy tries to help a Russian sailor (Ray Marioni) defect to the West, but things get complicated when the sailor's captain (Dave King) falls for school principal Miss Courtney (Zara Nutley). 'A Point of Honour' has Danielle (Francoise Pascal) looking for a stand-in fiancé so that she might protect her honour. 'The Examination' finds the whole gang in deep water after Jeremy gets into a pub argument with the examiner. In 'All Present If Not Correct' the start of new term sees all the regular faces return after failing their exams. 'Queen for a Day' has Miss Courtney responding to news of a royal visit by inviting the class to wear their national costumes for a day. Finally, 'Brief Re-Encounter' sees the class save Miss Courtney from the romantic and financial clutches of a devious con-man.

Review: Magical nostalgia - This is one of the funniest series ever commited to video. I remembered watching this as a kid and seeing my dad collapse off his seat with laughter. I decided to buy the series on dvd for my dad as a Christmas present, but I was tempted to watch an episode. Oh deary me! The jokes come thick and fast, they are politically incorrect, incorrect, rude, but, you know what, it's how I remember what life was like at that time. There were people like Ali (the best character in the series) everywhere, these weren't stereotypes -it was partly a reflection on life. That was why it was and is so achingly funny. I'm asian, and I don't find anything to take offence in Mind Your Language, in fact I think the people who the series was parodying find it the funniest. For the record I bought my dad a clock for christmas, i kept the dvds, mind you he can borrow them, but only one at a time. (PS the episodes are great if you have people over who never seen or even heard about 'Mind Your Own Language", it will really kill them, people beg me to borrow them). (PPS Thanks desertcart)
Review: Love it so un-PC - Love it. So un-PC

One of The Best British Comedies of All Time. It is very funny although it was made in the 80s. Never been bored of watching it.
