This Frustrated Me TERRIBLY Let Me Tell You Why

*by C***L on Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2019*

I am pretty good at making things work with computers. Peripherals often need some kind of coaxing or tweaking to make them work well. This, however, was beyond help. Let me explain..WHAT IS THIS KEYBOARD LIKE?LAYOUTThis keyboard is what I thought I had been waiting for for years. I have been using my third PC Concepts Ergonomic keyboard that I have used since the early 1990s. I used them because they are set up far better than any of the Microsoft ones. The problem is that they are not USB so I have to have an adapter to use it in USB slots.TOUCHPADThis keyboard is set up almost exactly like the other keyboard I have been using. The only difference is the touchpad is in the middle of the keyboard instead of on the right side like it is on mine.SETTING UPI was VERY excited to try this. I put my hands on it and was so excited- the spring in the keys and the way that they worked in typing was fast and effective. I could not wait to plug it in! Surely this was worth the VERY long wait for a keyboard like this.HOW DID THIS WORK?The box claims that this is plug and play. I plugged it in and ..nothing. WHAT? First the system claimed that there was nothing there. Okay, so I changed USB ports. The mouse signed in haltingly, but no keyboard. I removed all drivers, and then re-installed them. Nope. Nothing. First the touchpad would stagger and no keyboard. Then the keyboard would work but no touchpad. It was very erratic and no matter where I tested it, it would not work correctly.I tried everything to troubleshoot this thing. Finally I figured out that somehow it appears that thistouchpad/ mouse driver shares the other mouse driver that is in the system. That means that my Wacom pad was no longer working as well as usual. It seemed to be fighting. Finally I got the keyboard to load up. I began typing. I even considered keeping the keyboard and not hooking up the mouse (probably not possible). Then it happened. I began to type the word "keyboard"Here is what came out..keybooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooard.Did the key stick? Nope. It sprang back. I tried again. Typed fine. Suddenly it happened again. ooooooooooooooooWHY DIDN'T I JUST GET THE KEYBOARD WITHOUT THE TOUCHPAD?I got this because due to a wrist issue, I have NEVER been able to use a mouse. Touchpad is all I can use. I also do not have the room on my desk for a mouse pad due to my Wacom tablet. Using the Wacom tablet is not convenient most of the time for regular touchpad use (non-graphic) or I would use that. When I want to do productive work, I want the touchpad in my keyboard.BACK IT GOESI tried EVERYTHING to get this to work correctly. I was really hesitant to try another one because at THAT price it should not be this difficult to use. I even tested it on another machine. It worked but had occasional hiccups too.THE BOTTOM LINEI wanted this to work SO BADLY. There are just too many issues that made it frustrating. The touchpad not working (seeming to share the regular mouse driver causing other devices to lag along with touchpad not working) , the key repeating, this should not be happening for a keyboard that costs this much. When I put my old keyboard back, the Wacom and touchpad in the old keyboard worked beautifully.MY RATINGONE STAR This was very upsetting and try as I might I could not get this to work. I had to send it back. I want so badly to have a keyboard like this that actually WORKS before my remaining keyboard stops working It is really old.

    Great layout, pretty loud

*by G***T on Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2020*

I wanted this layout and I couldn't find the equivalent Microsoft version. I am very productive with this layout, especially the windows key on the right side, the "right click" button, and the music controls at the top.I don't use the touchpad much and it doesn't get in the way. I suppose it'd be handy if I didn't want to use a mouse but the only times I've tried to use it the cursor moves way faster than I'd expect. The keys are super loud which makes me think the device as a whole is pretty cheap. I'm not a mechanical keyboard expert (this is not a mechanical keyboard) but it sounds louder than my coworkers' mechanical keyboards. It's pretty light despite its huge footprint. The USB connection can also be a little finicky. Despite those traits, I still ordered this keyboard a second time (when my first one got stuck in the office after COVID shutdowns) because it's trusty and all the keys are right where I want them.

Poor keyboard feel, poor touchpad functionality

*by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2019*

I had really wanted this keyboard to work out. I've been looking for years for a touchpad keyboard that had a multi-touch touchpad, not the single touch Cirque trackpad based keyboard. While the angle of the keyboard and placement of the keys fit the ideal ergonomic position, the feel of the keys themselves was quite inferior. I'm not looking for the ideal touch of a mechanical keyboard switch, but I expect a keyboard not to feel like I'm sliding plastic on plastic with an overly hard landing at the bottom of the keystroke. They touchpad was the killer for my keeping this keyboard. My current touchpad keyboards have the Cirque trackpad module. That means that scrolling has to be done by sliding your finder on the far right side of the pad instead of using two fingers anywhere on the pad. It also means no two finger tapping for right click.I was excited about this keyboard because its touchpad supported multi-finger gestures. The problem is that the computer doesn't get to see the touchpad directly, and therefor cannot adjust the sensitivity of taps and scrolling. This is all done internal to the keyboard. The tap sensitivity was good out of the box. The problem was with two-finger scrolling. Even adjusting mouse settings to maximize sensitivity of the scroll wheel, scrolling with this keyboard is extremely slow when dragging your fingers down the pad. The only way to get a decent scroll speed was to quickly flick your two fingers and then let the scrolling coast, flicking again when it slowed down, until you reached your target, when you would tap to stop the scrolling.I don't know if this was a sample defect or a flaw, but pressing the "Perixx" button did not disable click-on-tap the way the manual says it should. This was another feature that I was looking forward to. Since the touchpad has left and right physical buttons, the ability to disable click-on-tap would prevent my palm brushing the touchpad while typing from messing things up.So while the specs of this keyboard sounded very exciting, the quality of the typing experience and the scrolling problems with the touchpad resulted in my having to send this back.BTW - I tested this keyboard both on Windows 10 and openSUSE Linux, so no operating system issue behind my problems.
