## Description

"Shiva does not spell religion. Shiva spells responsibility -- our ability to take our very life process in our hands." -- Sadhguru 'Shi-va' is 'that which is not', a primordial emptiness; Shiva is also the first-ever yogi, Adiyogi, the one who first perceived this emptiness. Adiyogi is symbol and myth, historic figure and living presence, creator and destroyer, outlaw and ascetic, cosmic dancer and passionate lover, all at once. A book like no other, this extraordinary document is a tribute to Shiva, the Adiyogi, by a living yogi; a chronicle of the progenitor of mysticism by a contemporary mystic. Here science and philosophy merge seamlessly, so do silence and sound, question and answer--to capture the unspeakable enigma of Adiyogi in a spellbinding wave of words and ideas that will leave one entranced, transformed.

Review: You cannot conclude the truth. Just "Understanding" is sufficient - This book is not meant for specific class of people. However, if you want to benefit yourself by this book , you need to be advanced seeker. The first part is the silent talk. It is indicative. It has used words to describe impossible or indescribable. For example, Describe how sugar tastes? Sweet? What is sweetness? It talks about the version of yourself, the god , the turiya, the brahmasmi, or I'm that. When we see someone at high position, it is indicative of that, in this book for enlightened ones. It is shi-va. To understand shiva, we need to pull ourselves up to his level. The closer you are, the more clearer you see. the first part helps in channelizing your consciousness. Let's say the lake is your consciousness where just the contents of this book creates ripple in your lake because of which you become more alert or your consciousness gets channelized. Thereby, it makes visibility clear which is required for cessation of Duality and thus one gets enlightened. That is to say, if you are watching food recipe video and you are streaming last two minutes of the video when food gets ready, the essential part to understand the secret of food item. Thus, it is implied that one may have seen video from start. That is to say, first part talks about that secret. And when we talk about high level, One has to know low and middle level also. Because without knowing foundation, you cannot understand it fully. I read few reviews that says they couldn't understand what this book tried to tell. Well, you cannot conclude. This book talks about no-thing for part 1. This is first point. Don't feel negative if you cannot understand, simplify by start thinking as to who are you? Why you have some Special talents? What are their purposes? why did you born on earth? This universe has no reach point, no start or end point . To understand this watch intersteller (2014) movie. Man tries to go beyond time, space and earth but where? You should get realisation that there is more than just physical realm. Asking questions may guide you intuitively to go within. By making inquires, and getting answers from many enlightened beings, like Sadhguru, Osho , Vivekananda, paramhansa yogananda etc. You can reach to that position from where the book really starts. This is the purpose derived. Else what is the use of knowing purposeless yet only indicative information which cannot be used in real life by layman? Part 2 It is very difficult to comment which part is written by Sadhguru and which one by Arundhati Subramanian. The stories in part 1 and 2 both helps one in getting answers for their subtle questions. However, few stories are customised and are misleading. One may not be in position to understand if you don't know how ignorance can become barrier to your freedom. It says methods of meditation which is referred as tantra is "Tantric yoga" but I can call it as "Yogic tantra". The tantra and yoga may lead to single destination. But they are two sides of coin. Both of them has its own features. Further, One cannot digest the fact that Parvati is willing to have physical intimacy. Before we conclude let's understand rationale behind it. The parviti or ardhangini of adiyogi who made her son out of earth known to us as Lord Ganesha, is asking for physical intimacy, is absurd. Now one may claim these stories are beyond logic, but to claim her physical intimacy is incorrect. Shiva and Parvati are known to us as lovers , they are always consider as the one. They may be couple but they are one. The silent talk made in first part of this book about the self is very subtle and indicative. The position or the understanding at which Shi-va is at so do Parvati. Creation of Ganesha had purpose. That's why she used earth. Was there desire for sex? No, it works on totally different plane. If you can understand indications, you can understand the true picture. These stories of which logic cannot become part , tells us something in subtle way. Try to catch indications of all such stories. You should understand what it really meant. So Shiva and Parvati are already enlightened. That couple has nothing to do with physical or psychological touch. Their love is already transcended. After transcendence, what remains? That is to say it is existential or something which can be experienced beyond just physical. We have read where brahmdeva made mess by becoming blind about creation, adiyogi tried to help him for humanity to reach source. Because it created too many problems. And very purpose of dialogue between Parvati and shiva is to create 112 methods for meditation or tantra. Parvati and shiva has nothing to gain. She is asking him merely because common human being doesn't possess the understanding to ask it. Else how will we have solutions. If there is no dialgoue between them, one will keep asking the source of generation of 112 methods. So for which, Parvati have asked. She knows it. She is fulfilling her role. When oneness and Maya appear together, we see the god in picture form. But oneness? There is Total blankness in mind about such god. This distinction is necessary for understanding about these logicless stories. The way it is explained in this boo does not bring required clarity. Part 3 In this part, content from conversation with Sadhguru is mentioned. It is useful but it makes chaos. The stories mentioned in earlier 2 parts, are flavoured to make impression on your mind in a certain way. When Sadhguru comments on these apsects ,i.e., to understand these logicless stories, one may not be in position to perceive in the manner it should be. This book appears more of Arundhati's book commented by Sadhguru. She gives her description of memories of few places she visited and other information which I find redundant for the purpose for which book is written. Further, her idea of bowing down more to Sadhguru and others less is absolutely incorrect. She is confused. One bows down when he or she understands the real nature of a person before whom he or she is bowing down. Doing less or more, is telling in the other way , that I don't know if such person is worth to bow down. When one is confused, he or she will not bow down. Even if she does, it's mere formality. Mentioning her act to bow totally to kailasha to emphasize more on it and comparing it with Sadhguru and others is entirely absurd and going ashtray for the purpose for which this book is written. Final verdict I noticed that this book is promoting yoga more. This book appears purposeless or is silent talk at start but is marketing yoga in other way around. Adiyogi showed 2 paths. One of receptive approach, experiential i.e. tantra. On the other hand, yoga. This book hardly talks about tantra. Sadhguru have commented upon the feature of tantra but didn't bring much light. If both paths are approachable, they should be open to one's choice as per HIS/HER own color. Even if one is not ready to adopt method because of entanglements or the limitations on his part, solutions should be made available for the one who wants to implement it. Commentary on this part is missing in this book which makes this book incomplete or fails perfection. This is because this book is on adiyogi. The whole, i.e. all or 100% information about him must be given. Further, vocabulary should have been simple. Truth can be stated in simple words. Sadhguru himself uses single words. To get benefited from this book, I find only first part useful for my requirement. Second is lesser important than first one. First part should be read in its purest form. That is to say, certain foods should be consumed only when they are made or are hot. What I mean by it , is your consciousness should be more towards shi-va, Towards no-thing. Re-reading won't help. Further, the reader of my review should not make conclusion if it's good or bad. I'm just mirroring what book tried to say in best possible way. When removing dualities of our mind, or clearing one's misconceptions or ideas, one should be very careful and this is the chaos one should pass through when obstacles are on your way.
Review: Shiva = Which is not - It's a wonderful book in the world about shiva. It's not in type of seeing him as god it's like seeing him as Adiyogi. Everything is fine but I felt English is somewhat complicated.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shiva = Which is not

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A profound read and a must have
*by S***P on 19 June 2025*

Must have in your spiritual book’s collection. Very unique, new flavor and profound perspective with deep understanding on Shiva/Adiyogi. From ancient to modern relevance. The English can be poetic or difficult words to grasp and understand sometimes but overall a worthy read.
