When I recieve the card I followed all the directions for set up closely. It seemed that it was activated and would work well so I purchased a 15 day plan for 20$ for the Colombian and Caribbean areas which I'd be visiting I was thrilled to see the plan included both those areas! However this was a big mistake. When I arrived in Colombia there was only 30 minute free wifi at the airport but I wasn't worried because I had my card activated. I followed through with all the rest of the directions to get my phone connected to the data I had bought. it showed it connected but it wouldn't use the data. At the top bar of my phone it showed it was connected but had an R by it? Without wifi it would not open the app and I could not find ways to trouble shoot my problem online. The Bogota airport allowed 30 minites free internet which I used up trying to figure out how to start this dumb data service! But nothing. When I enter the app, it shows my Purchased plan however it still says 15 says available. This is also weird to me because it told me the 15 days counts down wether I use the data or not.. I only have 15 days to use it, it's been a week and it still shows 15 days and 500 Mb. It was so important that I had this data working because I needed to be in contact with someone and this really was a disaster. I'm used to using a sim service for cell service so I thought this would be simple but it was a complete waste. Don't risk it.. You can get a US number though an app like Textnow (free). Then you can call forward your calls to that number and if you have an Android phone you can forward you text as well. For this to happen you require 2 phones, one left at home and the other you take with you. Your current US number is tied to your carrier and NOT portable to Gigsky. Gigsky has no phone number attached...that's why it's so portable and a great convenience. **Q: Will this work in Syria?** A: We do not provide coverage in Syria on the Consumer SIM. **Q: It works in costa rica, el salvador and usa? how can i recharge it?** A: You will buy the Latin America plan for Costa Rica and El Salvador, and it will work as you travel between them. Later you would buy the North America plan when traveling to the USA. For example, currently the 500 MB, 15 day Latin America Plan is $20. Its not even worth it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Paying for Convenience but Spotty Coverage *by A***M on October 20, 2019* I have used the GigSky Data SIM before in both Europe and Asia and found that the service works well in terms of getting connectivity to your device. On iOS, you won't know who you are roaming on as the service bar always says GigSky for the Carrier. In some of the countries I visited, there were times when I would be stuck on 3G connectivity even though I knew LTE was available; in one instance I had LTE for a day and then was stuck on 3G the rest. No matter what I did, reset APN settings, airplane mode, reboot, I would be stuck on 3G. That said, I did have connectivity and Internet did work; albeit slow. In terms of plan selection, I generally went with the regional plans since it allowed me to go to many countries and use the same data plan. Pricing is relatively reasonable (compared to US carriers roaming plan rates) but is not compared to local SIM providers. But that said, there is a price for the convenience of not having to purchase a local SIM and swap SIMs out each time.
