Yes it collapses. Yes it boils. But you have no idea when it’s boiling until it boils over. And the handle gets very hot. Too hot to touch bare handed and the steam just scalds your hand as the water pours out. I would not recommend this to anyone and I will not use it again!

With the handle on the top the kettle began to collapse with the weight of the water.Returned and bought a replacement with the handle on the bottom.

I added this to my camp kit recently after deciding I was sick of drinking coffee that tasted like the previous night's frank and beans (or ramen, or chili, etc). This puppy folds down small and contrary to what some posters mention, I have not had a problem with the handle or sides melting, despite being used on a high power camp stove.My only minor complaint is the way the lid shuts and clamps with a little plastic toggle - I worry about that little plastic piece breaking at some point.. The kettle is also a bit awkward to pour but you get used to it.

This is now one of the essential pieces of my camping gear when I'm helping my daughter's Scout Troop. It's super light, sits perfectly on my peak 1 stove and has plenty of volume for heating up a bunch of water at once. The best part is the bright green is easily visible so the other adults can always find the coffee center first thing in the morning.

I ordered this for car camping, and that’s all I’ve tried it for, using our single burner butane camping stove to heat. Although it definitely does the job of boiling water, doesn’t leak, and nothing has broken, after about a year we have basically stopped using it. The metal bottom is quite heavy, so it takes a long time to heat the water up. Even though it is nicer to pour water out of than a camping pot, we still use the camping pot anyway to conserve fuel. If that is not a concern for you, then I would definitely recommend this collapsible kettle!

Only dislike I have is that steam off the kettle leaks onto the hand pouring. But not enuf to burn, just enuf to be annoying. I’m working on how to fix that. May be just adjust the lid better. Don’t know. I like it. I’d recommend it.

I've only used it on one trip, but it worked just as it was supposed to. Because of other reviews, I was careful to not let the flame of the propane stove be wider than the base of the kettle so I wouldn't damage the silicone part. The only thing that kept this from being perfect is the ridges due to it being collapsible makes it harder to fully empty the water out when I want to re-pack my gear. That's okay, though. I bought it because it was collapsible, so I'll deal.

We needed a kettle to pack in our camping supplies and decided to give this little guy a try. It works great. Folds down nice and small and pops open easily. Holds enough to make a couple cups of something. For us it was water for coffee and hot cocoa.We are very happy with our purchase so far.
