Yes it is subtitled but the story is well told, easy to follow and entertaining. Chinese directors and Editors are very good story tellers. The sets, costumes and visuals are spectacular and are every bit as good as any Hollywood film..... I won't give my opinion about the story line that's your job. I will say it does have a fair amount of violence after all it is titled " The Empress and the Warriors" it is also fun and exiting ...... I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this film.
