Review: a read for all adults and parents too. not just for those in bad relationships. - I am 30.. married 2 years and most likely heading towards a divorce. Since we..I.. was desperate, i finally got us to start couple's therapy and the therapist asked me to read this book. This book called me on all my BS. And it was easy to accept it because it doesn't talk to you directly, it talks about other women and men who have had these problems. So as you read their stories, you can relate to them. Initially I kept thinking 'oh..thats a little like me.. but not really.. i don't have those kinda issues' or 'no, i don't feel that way' but as i kept reading.. it slowly started to unravel and i began to question and understand myself. I kept blaming my husband for all the pain and suffering that i was going through but after this book i realized that although he was causing me all this pain.. i was the one who invited it and kept encouraging it..not intentionally or consciously of course! It tells you how to look at things in your past..your childhood that you would NEVER pay attention to..but now is responsible for attracting all your bad relationships and drama. This book is also great for parents because it tells you how badly a parent's behavior can hurt or shape a child and in turn affect their perception, shape their personalities and haunt them enough to destroy them even through their adulthood. I would recommend this book for any and everyone, not just those in bad relationships although i think thats what gets you to notice this book in the first place. It helps you look at yourself, identify the true origin of the patterns of hurt in your life. I'm not sure about how helpful it is with fixing things but its still half the battle won.
Review: 10 Stars! Read this before getting married! - What a book! Gosh now Indian TV series look like co-dependent! Every man & woman must read it. Its honest, insightful, to-the-point. I just finished reading it in two days. I will say I feel dizzy. Because this book is really heavy with honesty I am not used to. Helped me see myself better. Read this before getting married or I you are among those people who HATE being alone. This book will tell you WHY & HOW to be deeply passionately love YOURSELF. Because being selfish is IMPORTANT (contradictory to popular notion) ... Remember the Hindi saying "Joh apnna na ho saka... Woh kisi aur ka kya hoga") Going to make this mandate reading for my generations to come. ####### 20 Oct 2017: Post reading this book I read the following books as well. Read it if you have any one of the following problems in life: 1) You ATTRACT MOSTLY negative people who always seem to take you for granted - emotionally, physically, economically 2) In your family being loving = sacrifice yourself without expecting anything in return 3) Your family insist on SHOWING how happy and loving they are (basically you are NOT ALLLOWED TO FIGHT FOR YOUR OWN OPINION. FORGET ABOUT HAVING ONE DIFFERENT FROM REST OF THE CLAN!) 4) You wonder why your family has so much if health issues. 5) You wonder where your life is going 6) You wonder if actually your parents/grand parents are actually good people 7) You wonder why you are unlucky 8) You wonder why you have trouble holding on relationship : romantic, friendship, office colleagues, neighbors etc 9) You dream about SUICIDE. 10) You want to sleep 24hrs. 11) You hate yourself. Books to Read: 1) Women who love too much 2) Women who love men who hate them 3) Controlling People 4) Codependent no more**** THIS IS BIBLE OF LIFE. READ IT. 5) Will I be good enough - Narcissistic mothers 6) Toxic Parents 7) Emotionally immature parents. Stay well. I hope the following helps someone: "Never Ever Give Up on Yourself. You die when you are READY. Not before that. If no one understands you, supports you - you understand yourself, support yourself. It might not be easy. But YOU ARE WORTH YOURSELF." Plan for amazing life ahead so that you know what to look for. Good luck.
