My 4 yr old grandson and I regularly count to 100 using them. They are easy to read, sturdy, and large. On the back there are blank squares which we use for practice writing numbers. Recently, we began paying him for practicing his piano lessons, 5.00 per practice session. We started this because he wants a toy that costs 100.00. We circle 5 numbers every time he gets a check for practicing, and he can see the dollars mounting up. He gets the concept that soon enough he will have earned the 100.00 to pay for the expensive toy. It is up to the adults around a young child to instill a love of numbers and math. We also do number and sticker Sudoku for kids, with him too. Believe me, as the parent of adult children, I know first hand how time invested in very young children more than pays off. Yes, it is time consuming and takes energy - we only get a very short period of time to work with rapidly developing brains, for better or worse. But we make our own.
