Best accessory for your Godox AD200 - great light pattern and quality - get one!
I just got my H200R and had to try it out – first thing I thought of (and looks like others did as well) was to shoot against a background to compare the light pattern of the H200R vs. the barebulb, the barebulb with the AD-S2 reflector, and the Fresnel head, in order to compare the light spread from the various heads. The Barebulb really needed to have the power turned up, as the light is spread in all directions (and, you wouldn’t point the bulb directly at the subject anyway). The AD-S2 looks much better than the Fresnel pattern, but still has a hot spot in the center. The H200R looks great, with a much more even circular light pattern with no hotspot and a very nice falloff.Next, I shot the various heads into an umbrella – you can see how the different heads compare at filling the umbrella in several of the other reviews, so I thought I’d skip that and post a shot that shows the light spill to the sides when shooting into the umbrella. In that series, you can see that the H200R has very little light loss to the sides - (so it’s more efficient – keeping the light is going where you want it, which also increases your control over where the light hits).OK, great - enough of that, let’s see what the light looks like on some people! I grabbed a couple of family members as victims (er, models) and got these shots. One question to answer - can it be used without a modifier (e.g. softbox) for those windy days? The first shot with the male subject was in late afternoon, bright sunlight/backlight, using a 3 stop ND filter so I can shoot wide open with the Canon 135 f/2.0 in bright light, using my AD200 with H200R at about 45 degrees to camera right for a fill light (just the H200R – no other modifier). The first shot with the female subject was taken in a shady area with a bright background and the H200R near the camera axis. The second shot of the male subject was taken in deeper shade, with the AD200/H200R in a Cheetahstand Colt 45 reflector, shooting from across the pool, about 25 feet away at about 60 degrees off camera right. The second shot of the female subject is in shade with a less well litSo, can I get away with using the AD200 with the H200R and no modifiers for portraits? I think the answer to that is yes!(That is very hand for solo shoots on windy days – don’t have to worry about the whole light stand blowing over and breaking your AD200, and it's way easier to carry, too. The light is even. I don't see a hot spot. The light doesn’t seem hard or harsh. I’m sold! The AD200 with the H200R is still quite compact, so it will also make a versatile grab-and-go setup. Very nice piece of kit – get one for your AD-200!Also, when buying from this supplier on Amazon, you get your product FAST (rather than 2-4 weeks when buying on ebay from China). They got the H200R in my hands in 2 days – what’s not to love? Now I’m looking forward to the arrival of the AK-R1 accessory kit I just ordered (snoot, barndoors, gels, etc. that mount directly on the H200R magnetically).

Not Compatible with AD200 PRO (NO MATTER WHAT THEY ADVERTISE)
*** Interesting Fact *** You will probably never find a photo of a AD200Pro with a H200r installed on it (except Adorama's version) - It seems this accessory consistently arrives with issues attaching it to the AD200pro. Make no mistake about it, if you were planning on attaching this unit to a AD200 pro get ready for a ton of problems putting it on (possibly). The manufacturer, Godox will not talk to you at all and Amazon cannot help you in any kind of way except for give you a refund or offer to trade it out for you. If you called Adorama, they almost pretend like it never happens and they don’t know anything about it yet everybody who ranks this product a one star says the exact same thing about it. If you are putting this accessory on the standard AD200 version, it may work fine installing it and using it. If you are installing this on the pro version, it is going to be a crapshoot if you get one that fits. The only advice I’ve ever gotten was to force it on and be careful not to bend the pins.* So, I sent the H200r back to Amazon and decided to buy the Adorama Flashpoint version (FROM ADORAMA.COM website) because they have the ONLY picture with a AD200pro attached (well, at least the Flashpoint branded version) and this one snapped on and works very well.MEANWHILE: When I visit Adorama, a site that sells and supports Godox products and see responses comments like:Jose L I purchased the eVOLV 200 Pro set that came with the round head and it doesn't fit on the unit or another that I had previously purchased. Am I doing something wrong?Brands@ A If you are still haing trouble, email brands support, [email protected] K The round head fits the eVOLV 200 and it should fit. Check pins. Make sure you line up connectors nicely.Erika P The Godox heads can be very difficult to push into place - you need to make sure you are lining up the pins just perfectlyDAVID W It should fit any of the 200's I have found it can be a tighter fit than the other heads and make sure to check the pins on the head and the flash unit that any aren't bent.Wade S Sometimes the Godox heads are very tight and difficult to fully insert in the strobe body the first time. Perhaps there's a little plastic flashing around one of the posts. I can take a very firm push. If the pins appear to line up correctly just keep trying.Rachael S. This flash head is fabulous. But I ordered two and one shipped with one of the four connectors a bit shorter than the others, so that it would not connect to the body of the light. The replacement also had this defect. The one I have that works is fabulous.

Must have!
This is a must-have for the Godox AD200! Better, more even light output with all of the features of the fresnel head. Well-worth the investment!

My new go-to portable hairlight. Softer light spread with useful modelling LEDs.
This round head is an alternative to the fresnel head and the bare bulb options for the Godox AD200 portable strobes.I often use one AD200 as a hairlight because the battery lasts all day on the power settings I need and it is light weight enough to be suspended up high on a boom above the model. I don't want any accidents with heavy studio strobes !Before getting the H200R, I used a standard AD200 with a S-type bracket in a stripbox as a hairlight to ensure the light was in the correct position and not spreading out everywhere (see the set up at the bottom in the picture) .My new set up with just the AD200 and ring flash head is much smaller and lighter, so easier to transport and I can see the position of the hair light on the subject because of the inbuilt modelling LEDs, which is a big plus. The modelling leds can be switched on and off from the remote trigger. From the AD200 itself, the modelling LEDs can also be adjusted in brightness (low , medium and high)The light from this ring flash head is diffused through a translucent disc screwed to the end of the head so the light is already softer than from either of the other heads and I am also planning to use it as a main-light or fill-light outside, as there will be less chance of it being blown over than using a softbox or umbrella. The ring flash head doesn't fit in the same padded case as the AD200, but it does have its own little semi rigid pouch. So , all in all , perfect fit for my needs.

Godox H200R Attachment for AD200
This fits perfectly on the AD200 and offers much for wider and evenly area of light. One of my favourite features is the modelling light which comes in handy when you need to focus in much darker scenarios.I think my original flash attachment is going to gather a lot of dust because I much prefer this one. There are other optional attachments available for the H200R also, such as a magnetic grid, which comes handy at times.

Amazing add on to AD200
This is a must have accessory for the AD200. The Fresnel head is good with Magmod accessories, the Bulb head is good for Softbox, but this head id good in itself. This overcomes the issue of having the a rectangle light, and also the Spot focus issue. Look closely on your flash head, its actually a Fresnel lens, which basically zooms in and concentrates the power in the center. On the other hand, the H200R has just a frosted head which gives out more even light. The light is a well balanced, and the assist lamp is way more brighter as compared to the Fresnel head. Approx 3.5-4 times. Press the Bulb button one time to switch it on, again to add power by 1/3, and again to go full power. Assist light has nothing to do with the flash, and its only to be seen in the Indoor/studio setup. Outside, only flash is seen and not assist lights.Buy, if you like a little hard light, yet not too hard and even out. A round result on the wall. For assist light.Dont buy - for Usage inside the Softbox (unless you need an assist light) as the Bulb gives out more surround light as compared to a focused light, or for using along with the MagMod accessories.PS: If you plan to use the MagMod gels on this, its almost impossible to first mount that grip. And if you are able to do so, you basically block all the vents of this head, which might result in burning/melting the setup. You need to get AK-R1 kit for using the Gels.Overall, a good buy. Check my insta profile @rjvfotography for results. I add description for the setup/lights I used in each shot.
