Smooth and shiny all around. They are very lightweight. I don't even notice that I'm wearing them. Still, they are fairly sturdy, as long as you don't step on them. They are thin and delicate, but they are not paper thin. The swirls are intricate and nicely done. They don't have sloppy edges like cheaply stamped jewelry. The fishhooks are comfortable and hold the earrings in place well. Dangling from the fishhooks, the earrings have a little bit of movement.I love filigree openwork. It adds a touch of elegance, but it's not too fancy for everyday wear. The earrings are quite versatile. They go with everything from formal dresses to jeans. They're conservative enough to wear in an office environment.They are made with quality sterling silver. The back of the teardrops and the fishhooks are stamped with 925. I'm glad I bought them.
