If your concrete is old and full of paint spatters deep grease stains or oils you will need to probably bypass a stain and just use a good garage floor covering. I have never acid stained before and it was super easy. Just invest part of your time taping and masking because you don't want this stuff splattering everywhere. I recommend you invest in a new sprayer so you know the spray will be even. Better yet, I just use a wide paint/stain brush and did not tape anywhere and did a much cleaner job with my second project. See before and after pics. If you're worried about it being slippery just add slip resistant to your clear and it does the trick. It doesn't discolor or affect the clear in any way. Proper prep work will make the difference. It is important to remember that this is a chemical reaction and precision is the key. Completed first project and it came out so beautiful we are finishing the remainder of the basement area. Love the concrete for the bath and walk out to the pool. Perfect alternative to tile, linoleum or carpet. Cost effective but labor time is spread over a couple of days. Highly recommend the product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great value - select color carefully *by K***3 on May 10, 2017* Ordered this kit for outdoor grill area DIY project. The concrete base is new pour using standard grey bags from chain home improvement store appropriate for counter tops. We hand mixed each bag so there was a bit of variation on the consistency hence we have a lot of exposed aggregate in the finish, after several passes with progressively finer grit diamond sanding discs ( also purchased from Amazon). The Desert Amber color unfortunately did not produce enough color over the grey base, not sure if there was too much aggregate to allow the acid to react with the base. There was a weird greenish yellow haze left after the reaction that we didn't expect, with not enough red accents to make it match the stone. I tried a second heavy application to see if I could get more red but no luck.
