The kit did not come with any instruction in the box. The instructions online were confusing, but finally worked. I dont know why this product keeps mentioning pliers in the description, it did not come with any, instead you have to use a hammer to press the pieces together. The buttons are very small and would not work for thick clothing. The snap is not very strong, I'm not sure they would work to keep a tight fitting pair of jeans on. That's 3/8" to 1/2". The only thing that is 1/2" is the the outer snap cover. The female and male portion of the snaps are all 3/8". The female hole on these are 3/16"" and the male stud is 1/8"".I bought these for a jacket cuff male snap that came off. It is 1/2" for the male snap and 7/8" for the outer snap cover.
