The size of the board and small chalk is perfect for little hands working on their grip. It provides a nice frame of reference for practicing letters when first becoming familiar with them, and while working up the strength to write with pencils. The small sponges are a fun touch, as the kids get double the practice while wiping the letter off. I think it's expensive though. Nearly $30 is a LOT for a small chalkboard, plain white chalk, 3 pencils, a letter reference, 3 tiny cut up sponges and a few crayons. I didn't need most of that stuff. All I really wanted was the chalkboard, and you can get 4x6 chalkboards on their own for much less. At least the money supports a good program.
