Helps customize the fit. The removeable pads are also great for when you want a little more coverage. Great for the price! I'm a 34B so I ordered the size Small as indicated by the sizing chart and it seemed a bit tight (maybe? Maybe I was just used to old, stretched out sports bra?). But at the end of the day it was fine and I didn't notice the tightness. Also, the removeable pads inside aren't hemmed, the top layer of fabric started coming off after the first wash. Didn't put it in the dryer, just wash and I'm not sure how many washes it will survive. Amazon was nice and gave me a credit for it since I just had shoulder surgery and was REALLY living in the other four. Comfy enough to sleep in. I wear a 34-36C/D and they fit snug (without bra muffin) andI ordered a large so maybe go a bit of a size up if you are larger around. They washed well (just have to adjust the pads back a little) and I hang them to dry.
