The distance it throws a bright spot is breathtaking.. the runtimes are impressive, the three brightness levels are verywell chosen, the ease of use and intuitive switching is a pleasure and requires no instruction book. The state of charge lights are simple, useful, and seem accurate.. High end cars, trucks, clothes and yes flashlights. I lit up a tree a block away from me (500ft approx). This light shines an intense hot spot. I would advise against even shining it in the sky in case an aircraft comes by because the beam is so bright. Focused beam has very little spill so if you want to illuminate a room or close area don't get this one. It's for long range throws. Maybe the SR95 is better for lighting things around you. Had this a year and half. I don't use it much. It came with battery charged to 3 lights out of 4 and I'm down to 2 lights and have NEVER placed it on the charger. I've never run it for more than 20 minutes at a time so I can not speak to the battery life. But the construction is top notch: not too heavy and not too big.
