It's a special blend of 70% coco coir and 30% coco husk chips which means better aeration and stronger roots. - Pre rinsed so has low salt levels - Stable, will not burn plants or attract insects - Chips are great for aeration- excellent for veggies and herbs - Odor free, easy to work with - Breaks down into loamy soil - may be used as a mulch VermisTerra's special blend contains Coco Husk Chips for increased aeration The coir comes compressed so you get more and is convenient for storage. Just add water and soak your brick to expand. Weighing approximately 9 LBs it expands to almost 1.7 cubic feet of coco media. That is about 228 cups of media. Once hydrated, a single block will fill an entire wheel barrow with fluffy planting mix. It is easy to work with, does not stain hands, and will last for 5 years or more. I use this for a lot of different things and love the variety this brick offers in regard to shred size. If you are buying for arthropod substrate or horticultural amendment.. I found this to be more than satisfying for my needs. Most other Coir I've bought in bricks was really fine and dusty. Lots of little < 3cm chunks to bulk up media with moisture sinks! Another way this Coir stood out from ALL of the others I've used is the way it resisted growth of non-beneficials for long periods after being moistened.. As opposed to other Coir bricks and mixes I've used becoming ripe with life in short order of being moistened.

I have used coco coir before, and I was accustomed to it having to be hydrated. I used a storage tote and added water, causing a great increase in volume. It contains chips and fibers. When I mix it into my soil, with some pearlite and some additional bark chips, I get an airy mix that my plants are loving.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I bought this to use on my worm farm

Pretty good deal. I do have one complaint however. Since I harvest my worm castings and sift them thru a screen, I have noticed how many unusable chunks there are. I would say about 1/14th of the brick are solid chunks big enough to get caught in a 1" screen. I realize that there are other uses for this stuff so that is just a worm farmers opinion. My worms love the stuff.
