They do not protect from needle sticks as they are just thin rubber. They have little dots to add grip when pulling needles through as well. The thimbles stretch out after a long while but there are many in the box so you just replace it and start up again. They are so reasonably priced that even if you go through the box it’s no big deal. I’ve been using them longer than I can remember and have yet to buy a new box. The sizing for me is large on my middle finger and medium on the tip of my pointer. You can even wash your hands with them on!! These don't stay on my fingertips particularly well, but they do stay around my top knuckles and the tip of my thumb very well which is where I personally need them to stay.
