It uses compressed oxygen and the exothermic rids to burn through steel. **Q: Can u run this off a 225 amp welder?** A: No need for a welder, all you need is a 12 volt automotive battery. **Q: What is the country of orgin?** A: Mine says MADE IN USA!!! I bought it 4 years ago. **Q: Do I need a special regulator or can I use my existing regulator** A: I bought the Oxylance with the regulator. It needs a special regulator for safe operation. You are better off to go ahead & buy the package deal then you know it's the one necessary for safe operation. I really liked the one I purchased.
