I initially returned it when it didn't work on my 4s, and when the replacement came, it also didn't work, but worked on my son's iphone 4 (no 's'). I assume it will work on any iphone before the 4s that has that same connector, but I only know for sure what I stated. I don't own an Ipad, and didn't try it out on one, so have nothing to offer on that device. **Q: Mic input size is...? 1.5?** A: The TASCAM iM2 is essentially two microphones. It attaches directly to your iPhone 4/4S, 4th gen iPod touch or iPad/iPad2 through the 30-pin dock connector port where you would connect your power/sync cable. I've read that others have successfully used newer devices with a 30-pin > lightning adaptor.
