Boxed very well.. and they are stupid-easy to assemble. Very sturdy. You could fill it with heavy books and stack them, although we're supposed to buy their rack too, to avoid that. Note that they are constructed of thick cardboard, so don't get them wet, or they will fall apart. Mice may also chew on them if left in mice-y areas.I bought these for use as a collodion wet plate dark box, and they are great for this purpose. I own eight of these, and use them to store linen, seasonal clothing, supplies, and more. They stack up nice and I use them with the Bin Warehouse Storage System. However I do stack these two and three high on the floor sometimes with no issues whatsoever. What I like most, is that when there are times I'm not using a few of these boxes, they fold flat. I can store them under my bed, in a closet, or even on the Storage System.
