Review: Compact, does great. Still happy! - I did a decent amount of research when it came time to buy a "real" camera. Up until now, I used either a decent smartphone camera (Lumia 1020/1520/950, LG G4) or a bridge/superzoom camera. When I did a little more background reading, I learned that most bridge cameras use a sensor no bigger than what's in a smartphone, and that the DSLRs use sensors 10-20 times bigger. Once I decided to go large-sensor route, I needed to decide on mirrorless or traditional. While I wouldn't mind a "true" viewfinder, as in traditional DSLRs, I really wanted compact so I'd be more likely to use the camera on the go. I have 3 young kids, so bulky is just not an option. Sony seems to lead the way on mirrorless designs, and this model in particular had some nice features. The WiFi and NFC is great to get pictures over to your smartphone for quick sharing, and really gives these dedicated cameras a new level of convenience when on the go. Charging from microUSB is great, as I have many chargers already available, including in the car. As for the actually light capturing, so far so good for me. I like the speed in which it can focus and take pictures, and I like how you can set the modes to go from idiot to advanced. I'm not as impressed with the lens itself, but it does a decent job, though I've yet to find a way to manually control the focus (I guess that's not something people really want?). I'm eager to get a 50mm prime lens and maybe a 55-200 telephoto lens for more versatility. Low light performance isn't too bad, though I don't normally shoot in such a setting. I target nature shots and pictures of the kids, and I've already captured several winners with just the stock kit, and my kids do not sit still. I'm very happy with the overall package, and I look forward to growing with the camera. Update: Still happy after a few months of pictures. I added my first lens to my kit, the E55-210. It adds some weight, but it really gets you close to things further away. I've had no problems with the camera itself, and I am quite happy with this camera. I found sharing to my iPad via WiFi to be quite handy for sharing and showing your content, and for getting it to my cloud storage.
Review: I found the camera really easy to navigate around - Personally, I found the camera really easy to navigate around, both externally and internally. There aren't too many buttons located around the camera like you would find on the more advanced cameras. Lots of tech features for various shooting modes but within rather limited shooting options and I think this is what the majority of buyers for this type of camera want, also I think the compact size is a strong selling point. This small and lightweight Sony digital camera meets all my criteria: 1. It is inexpensive. 2. It is very easy to use. 3. It takes great pictures I think this Sony is a perfect starter camera which gives a lot of bang for the buck. I highly recommend for others like me who are new to digital photography.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Looking for a zoom lens. Does this camera support any inexpensive lens adapters and lenses for at least 14-20x zoom?**
A: Let me answer this in parts. Zoom:When a point and shoot lists zoom as 14-20x, it is calculating this off of the minimum and maximum focal lengths. Mirrorless (like this one) and DSLR cameras do not measure lenses this way, they stick to only using millimeters of focal length. So when a point and shoot says 10x, that really doesn't mean anything unless you know the minimum focal length. If the minimum focal length is 10mm, then the zoom distance is 100mm (10x10mm). The best budget zoom lens is the Sony 55-210 available without an adapter for this system reaches 210mm, but has a minimum focal distance of 55mm. So while it does zoom in quite far, it is technically only a 3.82x zoom (210/55). A combination of lenses can provide you with the same focal lengths as the aforementioned point and shoot zoom lens, but none of them will technically be a 20x zoom. The closest available at the moment is the Sony 24-240 or the 18-200 which are both roughly 10x zooms.Crop Factor:There is also another factor that can effect how much zoom the camera gets. Most point and shoot cameras use very small sensors. This means that a picture taken on this camera and a point and shoot with the "same focal length", say 50mm, will be much more zoomed in on a point and shoot. This is because the smaller sensor means you are basically taking a crop of the center of the image form the larger sensor. There are definite image quality, performance in low light, and artistic advantages to using a camera with a larger sensor, but it does mean that a lower quality camera will be able to get closer to a far off object at the same focal length.Adapters and Lenses:Because of the design of this camera, you can get some vintage manual lenses and attach them to this camera very affordably. You will control the aperture, focus, and zoom on the lens, but it is a very cheap way to get additional focal lengths and lenses for the camera.

**Q: How do I charge the camera? Does it come with batteries or cables?**
A: Hi JosephK, the camera comes with batteries, micro-USB cable and an AC adapter to charge the battery. Best regards, Zander

**Q: Will this one allow for an external microphone to be attached?**
A: Yes , by adding a $10 hot shoe adapter that you can buy here at Amazon. The one that I find will fit this Sony A6000 is "Neweer hot shoe adapter. It's not just an external microphone that can be added but you can also add an external slave flash on it using that same adapter. Hope this will.

**Q: Where can I find a comprehensive guide of how to use all the different functions and advanced settings that this camera offers?**
A: The "?" button is your friend. When you're in the menu settings and looking at different options, press the "?" button and it gives you some information about a particular setting or option.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This camera is simply amazing. I have gone through quite a few cameras ...
*by S***E on March 3, 2015*

This camera is simply amazing. I have gone through quite a few cameras trying to find that perfect balance between a point and shoot and my heavy DSLR. I wanted a point and shoot esque camera that took higher quality photos without being nearly as heavy as my full size DSLR and this camera delivered just that. The flip up viewer allows you to orient your selfie perfectly and ensure that no one's head is getting cut out (just make sure to look away from the viewer before you click the button!). The weight is a bit more than a standard point and shoot, and you definitely can't just shove this bad boy in your pocket like may other cameras. But if quality is more-so what you are looking for, this is a perfect camera to get. I also love the full 1080p video, it syncs up perfectly with my DSLR video so I don't feel like I need to lug it around on casual outings when I don't want to risk missing some funny videos. 10/10 would re purchase.
