I needed to access external hard drives mounted on a dock with slots for different disks, cards, USB devices, etc. The dock has an eSATA slot and this cable allows me to use with the new laptop. It may be just me or the fact that the new laptop is much faster than the old one but with the new cable access to the old files feels a lot snappier than they used to using just the mini USB connector. I totally recommend it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plug and play and usual StarTech.com good build quality - hand to sand the plug down. *by I***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 December 2020* I'm pleased with this cable now it's in use, working well with my (admittedly, ageing) StarTech.com RAID box. However, I'm subtracting one star because - surprisingly - the eSATA plug end was too bulky to fit through the aperture in the rear casing of my RAID, even though both are made by the same company!
