To attach the 'safety pin' type, essentially, as you would with a safety pin, attaching the reinforcing/backing plate to it- no hassle. However, these berets are more designed for the 'officer/NCO' type, which you'll see a vertical-rectangle on the cap itself- essentially create a hold/slot in the top, and 'slot-in' the badge. Securing accordingly with adjusting the metal slip. Done and dusted, fairly easy.
