The latest generation, the Kinetic Magnetic 3. 0 Trainer, makes a few incremental improvements to continue its reign. Many things are still the same, though, and we think that's just fine. The stable aluminum chassis still feels like you could throw it off a building -- although this may or may not fall within Kinetic's unconditional lifetime warranty. As always, the trainer comes out of the box fully assembled, and it folds flat for easy storage. New this year, however, is the trainer's nine-position thumb lever which allows you to adjust the trainer's resistance. The Mag trainer's progressive resistance is linear, up to 850 watts at 40 mph. Overall, the resistant increments are calibrated to offer greater resistance in the middle of the range (from 1-32mph), compared to most fluid trainers, making the Mag 3. 0 great for lower-geared machines like mountain bikes or cyclocross rigs. The resistance mechanism is also highly efficient at dissipating heat, making it more consistent than many competitors, and it's also extremely quiet, so it's easy for you (or your spouse) to live with. The Kinetic Magnetic 3. 0 Trainer comes in the color Green only, and with a handlebar-mounted, cable-actuating remote for the resistance mechanism. I use it as well, and the Kinetic 3.0 works well for keeping our legs fresh during winter weekdays when training can be prohibited by early sunsets. In the largest front ring, I can generate plenty of resistance and work up a serious sweat watching GCN youtube videos. My biggest complaint is that the adjuster has to backed out substantially to accommodate large MTB wheels and it will ride along the backside of the tire rather than under it. This means that the tire will sit low and come into contact with the ground if you are not on hard wood flooring. I was able to remedy this by placing folded cardboard under each leg, and using the Kinetic trainer mat over carpet. Be sure to purchase a road slick (WTB makes a nice slick model for MTBs) so the "humming" of the tire and wear is minimal. Also, the remote adjuster mount is oval shaped and does not fit standard round handle bars. The resistance cable adjuster (+/- knob), while functional, feels cheap. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product, use it daily! *by P***E on July 12, 2017* I'm not a huge biker, but I wanted something to put my bike on for indoor exercise.Initially, I purchased a trainer that was much cheaper. But, about halfway through putting it together I could see that the quality wasn't there, so I returned it and ordered the Kinetic.When the Kinetic arrived, you could see and feel the difference in quality. It's solid, easy to set up, smooth, and I've used it daily since I bought it and love it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good trainer. *by A***X on February 1, 2016* Very nice trainer. Not as quiet as I hoped, but not loud by any means. The biggest fault is the cable for the resistance. It LOOOOOONG. I don't k is maybe they want to make sure it fits tandem bikes?
