I drilled then filed a round hole ( about 12mm ) in the lid of a supermarket 5 liter water container . It all worked well. Review: Upgrade replacements - My old s-bubble airlocks had become soiled and one of them even cracked while I was trying to clean it. These looked direct replacements, but proved to be more solid and have a very slightly larger circumference. This was not a problem as the bottom ends are tapered and therefore fit into my existing grommets. The airlocks have sharp edges on the seams where the two halves are welded together, and these would damage the grommets, but a few seconds with a file fixed that. I like the caps for the top ends, which will help keep them clean between brews.
