With an optimum percentage of clays and raw materials to achieve a silky soft white (no iron spots) clay, BMX can be fired between Cone 5 to Cone 7 but is achieves best results when fired at Cone 6. It is fully vitrified at cone 6, fires to a cream white color, seems compatible with all of the glazes I use (occasionally I get some pinging post fire, but no crawling), it is very plastic and smooth to work with, doesn't have much grog at all, and has worked well for me for throwing and for hand building. My only criticism is that it typically arrives overly moist and takes some wedging or letting it sit to dry a bit before use, as otherwise is too sticky. It is fairly expensive on desertcart, I think that is probably because of bundling in shipping costs in the price, but it is still a good choice. Adding more water will just make the clay softer. **Q: So my kilm finnaly broke down. Is it possible to bake this? How fragle will it be if its just air dryed?** A: If your kiln broke you have nothing to loose by baking it. I'm not sure how long to bake it or how high. I would Google search it. It dries very hard in the kiln. **Q: Can I fire this to 1400F?** A: You need to fire to Cone 5 (2118 Degrees F) **Q: Can this be used to make an ashtray?** A: It can be used to handbuild or on a pottery wheel bu for this clay to harden it has to be fired to around 2185°F and this requires the use of a kiln.
