Even though they are weighted down with 2 pounds of lead, some say the traps will get so full of fish that they will float. Simply throw a 1/4 block of chum in the trap, no bait cage necessary, place it in a good Pinfish area, and come back in an hour or so. 1/2" x 1" mesh holes, 16 gauge, galvanized wire will last a lifetime if you take care of it. Assembled with stainless steel hog rings.This trap TARGETS Pinfish. This trap is for Florida Pinfish and no other fish in the world so don't order it for any other thing besides Florida Pinfish. Performs very well. Well built, a little on the pricey side. If any pinfish are escaping I haven’t noticed as its been pretty full. Probably won’t catch the big pinfish due to the size of the opening but it does well for the smaller live bait sized pins. If the openings were bigger you’d catch bigger pinfish but lose a lot of the smaller ones which are ideal for speckled trout and slot reds. I just fill it with the scraps from the fish I fillet. That seems to be the best bait at least where I’m at. Plus it’s free.
