I had a cast put on my foot/leg two days before Thanksgiving this past year to help heal an injury. Unfortunately the cast only created more pain and I needed to have it removed but everyone was home for the holiday. These scissors, which I had been using in my kitchen for more than a year, came in handy! I took these scissors to my cast/boot and within an hour I had cut myself out!! Now those also-rans live in a drawer (with the exception of the not-bad Newness, used as a backup) and these sit proudly in the knife-block on the counter. Will they cut through bone? Of course not -- you need a big scary butcher's cleaver for that. But they slice easily and comfortably through any connective animal tissue you can throw at them, at least so far. They feel solid, too. They don't come apart but just open them all the way and sponge them with soapy water; if you put them or any sharp blade into the dishwasher you'll kill the edge forever.
